Overview.
Our Words Director, Catherine Bassindale, has assisted with several key projects over the past few years, including:
- The 2011 Quality Account
- The last three annual reports
- The Trust’s patient letter templates
- Their flagship GP Referral Guide
- Case studies for the Trust’s main website
- Patient literature
- The first draft of a microsite for Barts Health and Wellness.
The Royal London was our local hospital for many years, and it’s a privilege to work with the Trust’s talented communications team.
“Catherine has worked with us on lots of projects over the last few years and I only have great things to say about her. She’s tackled our patient information booklets, written copy for our websites, helped write a guide to services and written case studies for our annual review. Her written work is faultless, she delivers on time and she’s confident, friendly, and sensitive with everyone she works with here – senior doctors, managers and patients alike. Catherine also has great attention to detail and I know I can always rely on her to do an outstanding job.”
Annual Report 2010

The case studies are typically uplifting and inspirational, to reflect the positivity of the patients. For example one young fitness fanatic is planning to set up his own martial arts academy, once he has completed treatment for cancer.
Annual Report 2009

Some of the case studies are particularly moving, such as the story of baby Arthur, who was rushed from Dorset to the Royal London, to receive the specialist care that saved his life. Look at him now – he’s the cheeky little lad with the bucket and spade! As well as interviewing patients and their families, Catherine liaises with the photographer to set up the photoshoots.
